[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Vegeta
Age: 44
Gender: Male
Canon: Dragonball Z
Timeline: Post-death during his fight with Majin Buu
Character History:
http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Vegeta
Character Personality:
Vegeta is, first and foremost, Prince of the Saiyan Race. It is from this that most of his personality stems, as he associates himself with this title more than anything else in his life, and for a good reason. His entire planet was destroyed when he was a child, leaving him as one of the last of his species. He grew up very proud of his heritage, even if he were the Prince of an essentially dying race. His species was one of proud warriors who lived and died for battle, who grew stronger with each fight and injury. As one of the last, Vegeta was determined to become immortal so that he could become infinitely strong with each opponent he faced.
For a very long time, Vegeta worked under Frieza, a powerful alien and tyrant, whom he discovered was actually the one to blow up his planet. As Frieza’s subordinate, Vegeta suffered an incredible number of humiliations and tortures, and it was because of him that Vegeta came to be the merciless, obsessive, and brutal individual that he’s seen as for the first arcs of the show.
However, as the show progresses, things happen to the Saiyan that slowly begin to change him. There are people around him that seem to care whether he lives or dies, he (likely accidentally) starts a family, and he begins to overcome a few of his more violent drawbacks. By the time of his sacrifice against Majin Buu, approximately 15 years has passed for him since his first appearance, and it can’t be said that he is the same person he once was.
Vegeta, from the canon point that he’s been taken, is still an abrasive individual, though he has gained some redeeming qualities. First, though he has difficulty showing it, he is devoted to his family. He sees his son, Trunks, as an heir to his legacy, and once he discovered that the boy was his he didn’t try to deny it. Though he has a hard time expressing his feelings, he does enjoy sparring with the boy and training him, even if part of it is so that he can properly defeat Goku’s son in a fight. Regardless, he puts forth effort to spend time with him, making the bargain that if Trunks can hit him in the face, then he’ll take him to the park.
Sure, once the boy does strike him, the Saiyan hits him back even harder, but he doesn’t go back on his end of the deal. And he may have even felt a little bad about hitting him in the first place.
Vegeta also cares about his wife, Bulma, though again he has difficult properly expressing emotions such as kindness or love. He has, however, moved in with her, tried to help her raise their son, even though he could have simply stolen one of her spaceships and flown off to wherever he pleased. Instead, he settled down with her many years ago, seemingly content with his life on Earth. This is something that his younger self would NEVER have done, and speaks to his change of character and how he views those closest to him. Bulma is also the only one who can seemingly tell the Prince what to do, and have him actually obey, though it’s often not done without some comment and resistance on his part.
Though no one can describe Vegeta as gentle, it’s obvious in the way he can sometimes express intense jealousy, and the way that he learns to fight to save their world, that he cares about his family as much as, if not more than, he cares about himself.
After all, he blew himself up in an honorable attempt to save them and Earth.
Still, some things never change. Vegeta is an incredibly obsessive individual. When he finally gave up the idea of trying to obtain immortality, he instead turned toward Kakarot, whom proved to be stronger than himself. As the Prince of the Saiyan race, Vegeta subsequently dedicated his life to become stronger that the lowlife that Goku should have been. It’s unconceivable that he could possibly be stronger and more talented than himself, and it’s the main driving force for the Saiyan Prince. Though his feeling towards the other Saiyan very, very slowly morph from a bitter, jealous hatred to one closer to friendly rivalry, it’s still an enormous part of his motivation. His original reason for staying on Earth was simply to wait for Goku to return, so that he could learn the secret of becoming a Super Saiyan and surpassing him. When Goku didn’t return, he spent years traveling through space trying to find him, and it was his desperate need to confront the other Saiyan that brought him back to Earth yet again. Goku has left a huge mark on Vegeta’s life, and is not only his biggest motivation to become stronger, but also the first person he ever cried in front of, and someone whose good nature has clearly rubbed off on him in various ways.
His tendency towards violence is also not something so easily quelled by time. Though he isn’t going out and killing people for fun anymore, he is quick to jump into a fight, and has even struck his young son on occasion out of instinct. Fighting and training is his greatest stress reliever, and the first thing he turns to, since it was his only option for a very, very long time. Kill or be killed. It has been hard for him to move past such a basic instinct of flight or flee, and Vegeta is not one to run away. Vegeta is also merciless against his enemies; unlike the soft-hearted Goku, the Saiyan Prince likes to mock those he has defeated, make them feel worthless, and isn’t one to spare someone weaker than him. This is another of the characteristics instilled in him by Frieza; to show mercy was to show weakness, and such a display would have gotten him killed. It is a hard habit to break.
Character Abilities you would like to expand on further:
As a Saiyan, Vegeta is incredibly strong and fast. The Saiyan race also has the capacity to grow increasingly stronger with each fight; when a Saiyan warrior is wounded, and then healed, they become much more powerful as a result. The more grave the injury recovered from, the bigger the boost. It makes them very worthy adversaries. In addition, Saiyans are born with tales that allow them to transform into giant apes during a full moon (think King Kong). During his first fight on Earth, Vegeta also shows that anything similar to a moon will work for the transformation; he uses a ball of ki that he launches in the air in order to transform himself, since the Earth’s moon had been destroyed already. However, Vegeta’s tail was cut off, and so he is no longer able to do this.
The characters of Dragonball Z have the ability to use their ki, or inner energy, in order to fuel their strengths and abilities. Ki can be used in a seemingly endless amount of ways, from allowing flight, to moving at the speed of light, to teleportation, shooting ki blasts from the hands, and many, many more.
Vegeta is also able to transform into a Super Saiyan, which turns his hair gold and his eyes blue, and exponentially increases his power in comparison to his normal form. While in Super Saiyan form, Vegeta can become what he calls ‘Super Vegeta,’ which visibly increases his muscle mass and strength, but lowers his speed. Just before his death, Vegeta allowed himself to become Majin Vegeta, which was supposed to draw out his inner evil and increase his power as well. This allowed him to achieve a power level equivalent to Super Saiyan 2, which is just a more powerful form of the former.
Character Weaknesses you would like to expand on further:
For as strong as Vegeta is, intelligence is not his strong suit. The Saiyan race is known for their fighting ability, not their brains, and he makes that very apparent. Every time his gravity chamber breaks, Vegeta has to bellow for Bulma to fix it, because there is no way he’d be able to do it himself. Battle strategy is the closest thing Vegeta can come to smarts, and even then they are often only as complex as ‘run in and beat the crap out of him.’
Vegeta also has a lot of baggage from his past. The entire destruction of his race and planet has left a large scar on his psyche, and he is easily angered and bothered by any kind of jab at his species or the fact that it’s dying out.
Lastly, Vegeta hates anything long and slimy, such as worms and slugs. They make him want to vomit.
[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]
What abilities will your character retain in Soul Campaign? Bullet-form is fine.
The only abilities that Vegeta will be able to retain are his physical prowess and his extensive martial art/fighting knowledge. His strength and speed with be quite a bit above average, but will be reduced to levels obtainable by a human.
What weaknesses will your character lose or gain in Soul Campaign? Bullet-form is fine.
The fact that Vegeta will essentially be reduced to a normal human will be incredibly difficult for him to accept for a quite awhile, since he’s seen them as incredibly weak and pitiful in regards to physical ability. It is likely that he will go into situations being far too overconfident in comparison to his actual capacity and ability.
The wish Death the Kid made to the BREW in 2009 was to “rescue Death City and stop the waves of Madness from overtaking the world.” By whatever means necessary. Pretend you are the BREW. Why would you choose to bring this character to Death City?
Though never the one to directly destroy the threat, Vegeta has had a hand in saving the Earth on several occasions. He’s an incredibly good fighter, and incredibly persistent. He is also not morally above doing precisely what needs to be done to accomplish something, even if it means getting his hands dirty. In fact, he often prefers it that way.
If your character has difficulty verbally communicating or can’t verbally communicate at all (mute or non-humanoid), elaborate on how this will be treated in the game.

[ MEISTER ONLY SECTION ]
Why is your character a Meister and not a Weapon?
Vegeta is most definitely a Meister. He reminds me a little bit of Black*Star, due to his determination, outspokenness and determination. In my mind, in order to be a good Weapon, you need to have some flexibility, and be able to adapt well to who is wielding you, and Vegeta has none of these things. He’s all about going in and throwing punches at the first opportunity. Finding a Weapon for him will be difficult, but not nearly as complicated as it would be if someone were ‘using’ him instead. He would see this as sitting back while someone else fights his battles for him, and that’s not something he would ever be able to stand, so being a Meister makes much more sense for him.
What is your character’s Meister Ability? Why?
Soul Menace – The ability to use soul wavelength/energy by expelling it out of the palms of his hands would be very similar to the blast of ki he can shoot in his canon.
Insane Soul – Being more prone to madness would be appropriate for him. He’s had a traumatic life, full of death and destruction, though he’s been made more powerful by them.
Soul Rage – Vegeta is very short tempered, and he’s seen flying into a rage on more than one occasion during a fight, so this ability would also suit him.
[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Describe your character’s soul with six adjectives.
Ruthless, Obsessive, Proud, Bitter, Short-Tempered, Arrogant
What does your character’s soul look like? Be creative.
Vegeta’s soul is gold in color, the color that his hair turns when he goes Super Saiyan. The eyes of his soul are a bright blue, and his soul is shaped like a ball topped with his signature hair style, making it look a little like a golden flame. The soul’s expression is an ever constant confident smirk.
[ SAMPLES ]

Well, this is unexpected.
[Perhaps it’s a miracle that the Saiyan Prince’s first words are shouted into the communicator. In fact, he looks a little confused. Even bewildered, perhaps. ]
I always thought Hell would be a little, oh I don’t know…warmer.
[Vegeta looks down at his hands, runs them down his dirty and battle-damaged suit. Once he discoves he is, in fact, in one piece, he’s smirking, a small chuckle escaping his lips.]
Looks like I’m not dead quite yet, after all.
[Another laugh and he’s looking down into the screen, eyes intense and demanding.]
I’m sure you’re all honored to have me, but I don’t have time for this nonsense. If I’m alive, then I’m needed back on Earth. Send me back. Now!
[There’s no immediate answer, and he’s soon scowling, turning toward the device more fully, grasping it between both his hands, and shouting loud enough for anyone within a mile to hear.]
Didn’t you hear what I said! I demand you send me back this instant! Don’t make me come do it for you, or I will make you regret it!
Provide a Third Person sample set during the last minutes on their world and/or their first few moments in the Kishin Chamber.
If someone had told him fifteen years ago that on this day he would be fighting a fat pink balloon, blowing himself up to preserve the lives of his family and of a little planet of weaklings called Earth, he would have laughed in their face as loudly as possible before blasting them to cinders with a ball of ki the size of his fist. Then he would have walked through their smoking ashes as if he’d don’t nothing more than kill a fly.
It seemed like an entire lifetime ago. In a way, it almost was. As loathe as he was to admit it, he was a different person now. Not just a Saiyan Prince, but a comrade, a husband, a father.
Strange. Back then, he wouldn’t have thought himself capable of such a thing. Most days, he still wondered if he was, or if he was only fooling himself.
It didn’t matter now; he’d made his choice, and nothing was going to change his mind. It was better for all of them that Kakarot wasn’t here, still unconscious somewhere, no doubt. The idiot would likely try to take his place as hero, attempt to save him yet again. But this was his decision, the fate that he’d decided for himself. No one was here to take it away.
The thought made him smile. Even though every cell in his body was exploding, one at a time, into the burning inferno that he’d created to wipe Majin Buu of the face of the planet, he still wore a smirk, even if it was only in his mind.
And then everything blinked out of existence around him. It was over. It was done.
Or was it? For some reason, he thought it would have hurt a bit more than that, had almost been looking forward to it. Dying at the hands of Frieza had certainly been more painful.
The room around him was dark, and he could feel the sensation of the ground beneath him. No, not ground, but flooring. Around him were people’s legs; he was in a room, laying on the floor. Feeling came back into his limbs, and he was on his feet in an instant. He refused to be on the ground around these others for one second longer than necessary.
He was about to yell, to demand answers, when a man with shoulder length red hair stepped forward to speak. Vegeta grit his teeth, narrowed his eyes at this individual who seemed to be in charge. He didn’t seem much more than a regular human to him, and as he reached out with that sixth sense, to feel for his power level, he felt…nothing.
The Saiyan Prince had never felt more vulnerable in his life. He tried again, tried to sense the power in others around him, in himself, and there was emptiness. Testing the muscles in his arms, in his legs, the response that he was used to was missing.
Was this what it felt like to be human? No, it was impossible!
Vegeta looked up toward the speaker again, with wider eyes this time before his body tensed, wanting nothing more than to rush forward, shove his fist into the man’s jaw, maybe break a few bones before he asked his questions. And if he wasn’t in charge, Vegeta would find out who was. They had a lot of explaining to do.
